Thomas Reis (VfL Bochum 1848 head coach):

"We have definitely seen a side of my team today that's given their all. We were eager to show a reaction to the game in Bielefeld - especially in attack and fighting in head to heads. I definitely saw that from my team today. Of course, it's very, very annoying: you go 1-0 ahead and they score a wonder goal straightaway to equalise. With their second we didn't battle for it well in the sense that we gave them too much space again. There we gave up space in the middle a little bit. The result is of course enormously disappointing, but the performance of my squad makes me feel positive for the games ahead. It's going to be a tough game against a direct rival at the weekend, but I have the feeling that the guys have understood what needs to be done."

Dieter Hecking (HSV head coch):

"I'm very happy that we won the game. I think the game was a good one. Bochum played the best today that they've played in the last three or four weeks. We knew beforehand that it will be a difficult task which we have to solve here. I thought that the first half was balanced. In the first half I told my team that we had to go up a gear, play at a higher tempo. They didn't listen to me because I didn't see any of that until we went down 1-0. Bochum played better than we did and knew how to press us. But then the side showed their unique quality of being able to immediately turn it up a gear. The early equaliser of course helped us get back into the game immediately. Then you noticed that we started to play more freely. In the end, we deserved to win the game."

Sebastian Schindzielorz (Sporting Director for VfL Bochum 1848):

"The team tried everything, they were active and even had some chances before scoring. With a lot of hard work we took the lead and then a world class goal from them hits us hard. It's very, very hard to lose the game today. We invested a lot and are still without points. The fans have seen that the team has desire. But we were not rewarded. Now we have a hugely important game against Wiesbaden, and we have to show the positive things that we showed today. But for that we have to gee up the team."

Patrick Drewes (VfL Bochum 1848):

"Before the game, you naturally dream of keeping a clean sheet. Getting a draw or maybe even winning. In the end we leave the pitch with nothing. Although it didn't look like that for a long time, we suffered a significant defeat. It was a tough debut."

Simon Zoller (VfL Bochum 1848):

"I think that for long stretches of the game we showed a completely different side of our play than the side of us that we showed last week in Bielefeld. That was important because we cannot play like that. At the end of the day, maybe we can take courage from the game today. We did a lot of good things - in terms of mentality and the fight. That's the only thing we can do at full-time. We are aware of the situation, what is at stake here. I have been in similar situations - this is not a kid's birthday party. It will be extremely difficult."

Tom Weilandt (VfL Bochum 1848):

"We played a great game over long periods against a good opponent. The fact that we concede three goals after getting the lead is just frustrating. We must not lose faith now. Next week it's all about a lot of the good things we've done and we have to win. We have to work together as a team, like we did today, and we have to do it every day in every training session and every game. Because if we do that, it'll go in our favour, and you could see that today."

Anthony Losilla (VfL Bochum 1848):

"When you're down, things often goes against you. Because today we did very well, we played well. But it was still not enough, even though we were in the lead. The 1-1 came too quickly, which hurt us alot. Nevertheless, we have to take the positives out of the game and put the focus from Sunday. In our situation we can only get out of this with a fight and we have to continue this in the game against Wiesbaden. If we show this constantly, I am convinced that we will also pick up points."
