VfL Bochum 1848 has signed Konstantinos Stafylidis on a season-long loan. The 27-year-old Greek joins VfL from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Stafylidis, a left-footer and 32-time Greek international, has made 60 Bundesliga appearances for Bayer Leverkusen, FC Augsburg and Hoffenheim. He also has first division experience in England and Greece.

Stafylidis started his Bundesliga career at Bayer Leverkusen. Leverkusen signed him back in 2012, but immediately loaned the then 18-year-old back to his parent club PAOK Saloniki. He had already made his Super League debut for the Greek side at the age of 17. After spells at Leverkusen, Fulham (loan), Augsburg and Stoke City (loan), the left-footer finally landed at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim two years ago. Stafylidis also has European experience with PAOK Saloniki and FC Augsburg, making seven appearances in the Europa League.

"Konstantinos Stafylidis fulfils our requirement profile: he’s highly skilled, knows the Bundesliga, also has international experience and increases the quality in our squad," says Sebastian Schindzielorz, Managing Director Sport at VfL Bochum 1848. "He’s got a good mentality and is versatile, playing on the left flank and also in midfield."
