VfL Bochum 1848 have secured the services of Danny Blum for an undisclosed fee. The 28-year-old midfielder has spent last season on loan at Spanish second division side UD Las Palmas from Eintracht Frankfurt. Blum has signed a contract until 30.06.2021 at the Ruhrstadion.

Danny Blum is no stranger to the 2. Bundesliga and to German football. Whilst at Frankfurt he played 17 times, scoring twice in the process. He also made 60 appearances for 1. FC Nuremberg and SV Sandhausen in the second division, scoring eleven times whilst assisting with twelve goals. In the Spanish second division he made 22 appearances this season (one goal, four assists). The former Germany U20 national player can also call himself a DFB Pokal winner after lifting the trophy with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2017/18. In addition, Danny Blum has been promoted to the 2. Bundesliga as 3. Liga champions with both SV Sandhausen (2011/12) and Karlsruher SC (2012/13).

Sebastian Schindzielorz is impressed with Blum's qualities: "Danny Blum brings good technique and speed and has already proven himself in the domestic league as well as in Spain. He knows the 2. Bundesliga and its requirements and will help us on the basis of his experience," said VfL’s Director of Football.

Danny Blum is also happy to be back in Germany. "It’s good to be back in Germany and to prove my skills here. I already know the Ruhrpott, people live and breathe football here. I'm looking forward to playing for VfL and am looking forward to the new environment.”

In an interview on the club’s official Twitter account he said: “Hello VfL fans! Firstly, I’m happy to have signed and to be back in the 2. Bundesliga and in Germany. I’m looking forward for a brilliant time together, and hopefully we will have a lot of success in the future!”
