Unfortunately, VfL Bochum 1848 was unable to take any points in its first home game against 1. FSV Mainz 05. But that can change next Saturday (15:30). The blue and whites will be hosting TSG Hoffenheim at the PreZero Arena. Before the game, head coach Thomas Reis fielded questions from journalists.

Thomas Reis about...

... the personnel situation: Konstantinos Stafylidis, Patrick Osterhage, Danilo Soares and Jannes Horn are not available.

...the game against TSG Hoffenheim: "We've worked through a lot this week. We always want to improve as a team and a good feeling in training is very crucial for that. TSG Hoffenheim will probably play in a 3 or 5 man chain and we have to be prepared for that. They have a strong team and are not to be underestimated. With Grisha Prömel, they have a very goal-threatening player, it will be a lot of work to defend him. Nevertheless, we are very variable, we have to communicate a lot among ourselves and then we will use our strengths.

... about Patrick Osterhage: On Monday Osterhage was still at training, unfortunately he made a stupid step. He probably has a slight strain, but we hope that he will soon be able to return to training.

... newcomer Dominique Heintz: Heintz trained with the team for the first time today. It worked wonderfully, he makes a very good impression on me. With Heintz, we've got a player with a lot of playing experience. He is fit to play and has trained well, so he will probably be in the squad on Saturday.

... Mohammed Tolba: Tolba will be in the squad. He regularly gets his match practice in the U19. He may even make his debut on Saturday.

...expectations for the coming weeks: The expectations this season have risen, of course. The next games won't be easy, but we're looking ahead and staying positive.

...the defeat against Mainz 05: It's important that we learn from the game against Mainz 05. We allowed too many scoring chances. We didn't get back into the game after the second goal and lost the game as a team. There are many factors why we couldn't beat Mainz 05. Nevertheless, we are taking our strengths from this game and are positive about the weekend. I don't think there was much change in the tempo. We had 1-2 game situations where we didn't defend well. However, we can press well with our defence.
