The next talent from our academy: Mohammed Tolba has signed his first professional contract with the Blue-Whites. The captain of the U19 of VfL Bochum 1848, who's been at Castroper Straße since 2015, will be part of the VfL licensed squad in the coming years, until 30/06/2025.

The 1.85 m tall defender with Egyptian roots has already been able to participate in professional training this season and has also been in the Bundesliga lineup four times. At the VfL 2022 general meeting, he was awarded the Werner Altegoer Medal in the U19 age group. Mohammed Tolba also has several appearances for DFB national teams to his name, two for the U19s and five for the U18s.

Patrick Fabian, Director Sport at VfL Bochum 1848: "We are fully convinced of Mohammed Tolba's performance potential, and his development is not yet complete. It makes us proud that we can tie another top talent from our own Bochum ranks to us. Mo can be used variably in defense. He is one of our U19 internationals, leads the way as captain of the U19s, already knows the professional team - so his first professional contract at VfL is the next logical step in his personal development."

"I'm very happy to be able to give something back to the club to which I owe so much," says Mohammed Tolba. The 18-year-old is optimistic "that the team that has given me such a great reception will manage to stay in the Bundesliga. Of course, I want to prove myself at the highest level. To do that, I'm ready to keep learning and put myself at the service of the team."
