Clear defeat in Munich. VfL Bochum 1848 suffered a heavy 7-0 defeat against record champions Bayern Munich. After a decent start by Bochum, Sané scored the opener for the home team – six more Bayern goals were to follow in due due course.
Thomas Reis made two changes to his starting XI from our previous against Hertha last week. He was forced to do without Simon Zoller, who tore his cruciate ligament this week. Munich-born Miloš Pantović took his place. In addition, Robert Tesche replaced Eduard Löwen in the starting line-up.
Here's the live ticker from the game:
´: And Bayern get going straight away: Bella Kotchap gets Lewandowski's shot blocked, though.
´: Corner kick for VfL: Short option, but no goal.
´: Sané is on the run, but Riemann rushes out of his box and gets on the ball.
´: Short summary after the first ten minutes: Bayern quite naturally control the ball, but VfL are on not hiding and are holding up well.
´: Quick attack by Bayern via Davies: The Bochum back line is wide awake, however, and manages to clear the Canadian’s cross promptly.
´: First shot on goal by Bochum: Holtmann tries his luck from far away and flicks the ball into the right corner. Neuer is on the spot and clears it for a corner kick.
´: Next chance for VfL. Rexhbecaj with a bold shot from outside the box, but unfortunately the ball goes wide.
´: Quick attack by Bayern, this time they come via the right flank. Lampropoulos clears the ball before Sané can reach it.
´: Goal. The home team take the lead. Sané with a precise free kick from 25 metres. The ball flys over the Bochum wall into the right corner. The free kick was given after Losilla is said to have committed a foul against Gnabry – questionable.
´: Lewandowski’s shot from 18 metres causes no problem for Riemann.
´: Gnabry and Müller with a double pass but Lampropoulos blocks it once again.
´: Goal. 2-0 for Munich. Sané finds Kimmich, who is lurking in the penalty area and has time to turn around and place the ball into the net. In the end, Bella Kotchap even deflects the ball unstoppable.
´: VfL are trying to hit back immediately and are pushing forward. Holtmann with pace, passes to Polter, who was offside.
´: A splendid save by Riemann. Our goalie brilliantly parries a shot from short distance by Gnabry.
´: Almost the third goal for Bayern… Gnabry plays it from the touchline to Sané, who puts his shot from close range to the left of the VfL goal.
´: Goal. Now it’s 3-0, actually. A pass by Lewandowski finds Gnabry who, who is on the move on the right ans finally slots into the left corner. Horrible 15 minutes for VfL…
´: Stafylidis is shown the first yellow card of the day for a foul on Davies.
´: Corner kick Bayern. Müller with a header but luckily it misses its aim by a whisker. No fourth goal.
´: Goal. Now VfL are 4-0 down. It could hardly be more painful than that. Lampropoulos tries to clear the ball, but pushes it into his own net.
Half-time break: VfL put in a spirited performance until the first goal was conceded. After that, Bayern took advantage of Bochum's state of shock and made it 3-0 within a quarter of an hour. The fourth goal through an own goal by Lampropoulos seconds before the half-time whistle then was symbolic of the bitter afternoon that VfL experienced at the Allianz Arena.
´: The second half starts without any changes on the VfL line-up.
´: Stanisic fouls Soares and consequently is shown the yellow card.
´: Manager Thomas Reis makes three changes: Bockhorn, Löwen and Ganvoula replace Stafylidis, Rexhbecaj and Polter.
´: Riemann with another strong save – he first parries against Sané, then against Lewandowski.
´: On the other side, Ganvoula is free in front of Neuer. The German national keeper makes a save. However, our attacker was offside anyway.
´: Goal. Lewandowski from short range. 5-0.
´: This time VfL hit the net, but Ganvoula was once again offside. The goal is disallowed.
´: Goal. On the other side, the goal counts – Kimmich with his second goal.
´: VfL with another change. Pantović is replaced by Antwi-Adjej.
´: Soares with a solo run to the touchline and a pass towards Ganvoula who misses the goal from an acute angle.
´: Goal. Bayern with the 7-0. Riemann with a couple of strong saves but Bayern’s fourth shot hits its target. Choupo-Moting was the goalscorer.
´: Gnabry unmarked and almost the next goal.
´: Müller with the 8-0, but the VAR denies it. Therefore, no goal.
Full-time: VfL suffered a bitter defeat in Munich. There was nothing to be gained here, on the opening minutes, VfL were on eye-level. This defeat needs to be overcome quickly. Next Sunday, VfB Stuttgart will be guests for our next home match. Cheer up, lads!
