VfL Bochum 1848 can announce another new arrival: Eduard Löwen joins the club on a season-long loan from Hertha BSC. The 24-year-old midfielder has been under contract with the Berlin-based club since 2019 and was loaned to FC Augsburg last year.
Löwen has played a total of 52 games in the Bundesliga to date, scoring five goals. In addition to playing for Hertha and Augsburg, he also played for 1.FC Nürnberg in the top flight, and also made 43 appearances for them in the 2nd Bundesliga, scoring five goals. The 1.88m tall midfielder has represented the German national team at U21 and U20 levels. He was part of Stefan Kuntz' U21 squad which advanced to the finals of the European Championship in 2019. Löwen will wear number 38 at VfL.
Sebastian Schindzielorz, Director of Sport at VfL Bochum 1848, is delighted with the signing: "Despite his relatively young age, Eduard Löwen is a very experienced professional, with almost a hundred games in the Bundesliga and Second Division. He combines physicality, technique and speed and therefore fits the bill for us. We are happy that we were able to sign him for VfL for the coming season".
"VfL Bochum is a traditional club that offers me the opportunity to play in the Bundesliga", said Eduard Löwen. "VfL has been a top club in the Second Division. The people in charge here, especially Sebastian Schindzielorz and Thomas Reis, put in a lot of effort to sign me, so the decision was easy for me. It’s important for me to gain match practice so that I can help the team stay in the league”.
