VfL Bochum 1848 and midfielder Chung Yong Lee have agreed an early contract extension. The 30-year-old South Korean had a contract until June 2019, which was now extended by another year until 30 June 2020. Lee joined VfL in the summer and has played nine Bundesliga games for the Boys in Blue so far, making four assists in the process.
VfL Director of Sport Sebastian Schindzielorz showed himself extremely pleased with the contract extension for the attacking midfielder: "Chung Yong Lee has become a valuable member of the team in a very short time. His ball control and versatility are important assets and he respected and loved by the fans. We are very happy that we were able to tie him to the club for another season."
Chung Yong Lee is also delighted to have extended his contract so soon. "I wanted to get to know German football and I feel confirmed in my assumption that the game is played at a very high tactical and technical level. VfL Bochum 1848 have made getting used to German football and the 2nd Bundesliga very easy for me from day one. Especially our home matches at Vonovia Ruhrstadion, in front of the VfL fans, inspire me. I hope I can repay the fans’ support."
