Referee Patrick Alt is to officiate VfL Bochum 1848’s home match against FC Erzgebirge Aue, kick off on Saturday at 1pm CET. The 34 year old economic computer scientist from Illingen will be assisted at the Vonovia Ruhrstadion by linesmen Katrin Rafalski (from Baunatal) and Nikolai Kimmeyer (from Mainz). The fourth official on Saturday will be Marcel Gasteier (from Weisel). Manning the video review system in Cologne will be Christian Dietz (of Kronach) and Tobias Schultes (of Betzigau).

Alt has been a DFB referee for around eleven years, and the man from the Saar region debuted in the 2. Bundesliga in 2015. Since then, he’s ‘middled’ 38 fixtures in the league; five of which have involved VfL. The record for VfL under Alt is, on the whole, positive: the Bochumers have secured two wins, two draws, and lost just once under his stewardship. The last time he officiated the Blau-Weißen was in November 2018, when VfL earned a valuable point away from home in a 2-2 draw against the side we face after Aue this season, SpVgg Greuther Fürth.
