The flood disaster that hit Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia in mid-July, claiming many victims and causing immense damage, is still on people's minds. Bochum was also affected by this. During the night of the 14th and 15th July, the storm caused severe damage to buildings, property, and clubs who are based alongside the Ruhr, in the Bochum district of Dahlhausen.
VfL Bochum 1848 has already reacted immediately to the events and its consequences and announced that it will help some of the affected organisations and facilities with a donation of €30,000. After discussions with Bochum’s "Municipal Crisis Management" and the "Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund" Workers' Samaritan Foundation Germany (ASB), VfL has decided to donate the proceeds from its fundraising campaign to seven Bochum institutions. These were hit particularly hard by the flooding on the Ruhr.
These are the following organisations:
- Ruhrlandbühne Bochum 1949 e.V.
- Linden-Dahlhausener Kanuclub e.V.
- DLRG Linden-Dahlhausen e.V.
- ASV Bochum Linden-Dahlhausen 1848 e.V.
- LDSV – Linden-Dahlhausener Schwimmverein e.V.
- Wasserfreunde Ruhrmühle e.V.
- KiTa Lummerland
All VfL fans also have the opportunity to participate in the campaign. Therefore, a separate "VfL donation page" was launched together with the donation platform "betterplace.org". This is a continuation of the successful cooperation with betterplace.org in the past. The link to this can be found here.
In addition, an auction will take place featuring VfL’s shirts. This will include some original "700 Years of Bochum" special shirts worn by the team and signed by the players from the first two pre-season games. Further information on this campaign will follow in the coming days via the club's media.
The BOCHUM COMMUNITY stands together. This is especially true in difficult times. HERE, WHERE THE HEART STILL COUNTS: We want to help together with you. VfL Bochum 1848 would like to thank all donors.
