VfL Bochum 1848 will have to play their home fixture against 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 (kick-off SAT, 14.03.2020, 13:00 CET) behind closed doors due to a regulatory action of the public health department of Bochum. It implements an enactment by the NRW ministry for work, health and family issues (MAGS), which sees to prevent any events expecting more than 1,000 visitors from occuring with a crowd, if not at least being cancelled completely, as a result of the spreading Coronavirus Covid-19.

A cancellation of the game accompanied with a new coordination at a later point of time is out of the question in the present case, which was already confirmed by a statement of the German FA (DFL) on Monday, 9th March. The DFL board decided unanimously to let the upcoming Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga matchday take place as planned.

Moreover the DFL points out that all financial ramifications, i.e.: all individual losses have to be beared by each club themselves. VfL Bochum 1848 will fulfill their duty as a restitutor and refund all day and season tickets. The club will announce further information this week.

VfL Bochum 1848 appeal urgently to all fans not to travel to the Vonovia Ruhrstadion on Saturday. Both the fan shop at the stadium centre as well as the fan pub “8ZEHN48“ will remain closed.

Furthermore VfL Bochum 1848 decided to cancel all other club events such as the Fiege fan evening on Monday (16th March) as well as the KultKlub or BobbiKlub dates indefinitely. The club will inform you seperately about the rearranged dates.

Due to the numerous requests by the media, VfL Bochum 1848 expect an economic loss of about €500,000 for each home fixture played behind closed doors.
