Thomas Reis (VfL Bochum 1848's head coach): "First of all congratulations to Regensburg. Today we saw again what our game has suffered from so far this season: Our individual battles were not there to prevent the goals that we conceded. Then we got back into the game just before the break. Simon Zoller's squared the ball nicely to Ganvoula. We went into the break with a good feeling and even after that we had the feeling that things were going well for us. The opposition had a player sent off for a second yellow, but then we were neglectful yet again - when you have six against three, you can talk all you want about tactics or about changing the system- we just have to be better than that in the new year. If you concede three goals at home, you deserve to lose. Of course it would have been nice to have rescued a point- we didn't take that chance to earn a point late on, when Jordi Osei-Tutu missed."
Mersad Selimbegović (SSV Jahn Regensburg's head coach): "That was a very intense match today. It was one of the most intense games we have played so far this season - particularly in the first half. With time we were able to switch to be more dynamic, we became much more dangerous and then we took a 2-0 lead. Unfortunately, they scored a goal to get back into the game, which was really rather lucky. It was clear that we had to put in the same effort in the second half and we did. We defended intelligently and played well going forward. After the red card we didn't just drop back, but instead tried to defend high up the pitch. After the set-piece goal they scored the last few moments were dangerous but we were able to hold on."
Anthony Losilla (VfL Bochum 1848): "It is a big disappointment. We defended badly for all three goals. We deserved to lose today. From my point of view we didn't do enough today. We've conceded so many goals in the first half of this season - we have to make sure we don't do that in the second half of the season, we'll work hard on that in the winter break."
Sebastian Schindzielorz (Sporting Director VfL Bochum 1848): "We gave away goals far too easily, especially the third goal, that has to not happen at all. We got back into the game at 2-1 and the red card situation. At 3-1 though there was a bit of frustration, and we were only able to get a foothold back in the game very late on, and by that point it was too late. All in all it was a disappointing end to the year, with out first home defeat this season in front of our own fans. That was bitter and felt unnecessary just before the winter break. We have let in too many goals, so we'll have to work on that more closely."
Manuel Wintzheimer (VfL Bochum 1848): "We are all disappointed. We have to use the break to clear our heads. Regensburg did well with their long balls. We started strongly, then fell behind and thought that after the goal back and theor red card we could put more pressure on their team again. Unfortunately we didn't quite manage that. Now we have to come back fighting for again for the second half of the season. One game doesn't make everything bad again, in the weeks prior to this we've played quite well. We have to pick up where we left off and then we will earn more points in 2020. But every game is going to be very tough."
Danny Blum (VfL Bochum 1848): "Everyone has to look introspectively and ask themselves whether the performance of the first half of the season is the required level to play at this club. During the winter break there are a lot of things we need to correct and work on. You're together with the team, have more training and no games. We simply have conceded way too many goals and if we keep doing this, it's hard to always score enough goals to turn a game around. We have a lot of problems at the back and we have to stop these mistakes as soon as possible. Otherwise it will be hard. Football is a game of tiny margins. If you make mistakes, they will be punished. It's the same for everyone. We're all in the same boat."
