A few months ahead of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, the Euro 2012 qualifying draw took place in Warsaw on Sunday, the 7th of February 2010. The qualification for the 2012 European Championships in Poland and Ukraine will start on the 3rd of September 2010.
Christian Fuchs and the Austrian national team will meet Germany as both teams have been placed in Group A. VfL player Fuchs is looking forward to that duel. The other group opponents are Turkey, Belgium, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
Zlatko Dedic and Slovenia face a difficult path towards the Championships as they will have to play against Serbia, Northern Ireland, Estonia, Faroe Islands and Italy in Group C.
Stanislav Sestak and his team-mates, however, had reason to breathe a sigh of relief since they were handed matches against the national teams from Russia, Ireland, Macedonia, Armenia and Andorra.
The Swedish national team including Matias Concha and Andreas Johansson have been placed in Group E comprising also the Netherlands, Finland, Hungary, Moldova and San Marino.
Daniel Fernandes, who is loaned out to Iraklis Saloniki, and Portugal will have to face Denmark, Norway, Cyprus and Iceland in qualifying Group H.
